Killavilla United 'B' 0 - Rearcross U-14's 6

Rearcross U-14’s were on a bus trip to Roscrea last Saturday morning for this First Division League fixture against Killavilla United ‘B’ and made the journey worthwhile with a six nil win. The final result was a bit flattering as the sides remained scoreless until seven minutes before the break, but a trio of goals in a five minute spell killed the game off as contest when a goal for the home side early on might have put a different complexion on the outcome. The hosts enjoyed the better of the early exchanges with full backs Brian Nolan and Eoin Sheldon to the fore and then Colm Lenihan headed clear under pressure on the seven minute mark. Killavilla came close when a good effort flew wide of the post on twelve minutes. The Rea boys then had chances through Stephen Rochford and Patrick Dawson with both efforts not far off the mark. Rearcross got the breakthrough on 28 minutes after the ball broke to Patrick Dawson who fired between the posts from just inside the box. It was two nil in as many minutes when Dylan Ryan advanced on goal and was fouled in the process, Stephen Rochford stepped up and swung a delightful free kick effort inside the upright. Dylan Ryan stretched it to three nil on 32 minutes with a delicate touch following good work by Cillian Kennedy on the right wing. Rearcross were fast out of the traps in the second half and extended their league inside the opening minute when Stephen Rochord broke on the left before sending a left footed rasper to the net. It was five nil on the hour mark after Patrick Dawson followed through on an Aidan Bryan attempt on goal to finish over the line. The Villa Park outfit didn’t give up as Ben Simmon’s well struck shot was gathered cleanly by Cathal Kennedy and then the Killivilla custodian not to be outdone also made a clean catch from a Colm Lenihan delivery seconds later. Patrick Dawson was through on goal two minutes from time, however Killavilla keeper Adam Wallace fared better from the one on one situation. It was game, set and match on the stroke of full time when Stephen Rochford turned a smashing header to the roof of the net to complete a perfect hat-trick with a left and right footer and then the headed effort to send Rearcross home with all three points and a well deserved stop off in the Barack Obama Plaza before heading onwards for the Slieve Felims.
